Dear Sir/Madam,
Since the ONS began producing its covid vaccine mortality surveillance reports in 2021, we have been highlighting various anomalies in their datasets. This includes strong evidence that many of those dying shortly after vaccination were being misclassified as unvaccinated (https://doi.org/http://dx.doi.org/10.13140/RG.2.2.12472.42248) and systematic undercounting of deaths occurring within first two weeks of vaccination (http://dx.doi.org/10.13140/RG.2.2.12472.42248).
We are especially concerned about the latest ONS dataset (https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/birthsdeathsandmarriages/deaths/datasets/deathsbyvaccinationstatusengland) and have produced a detailed analysis which highlights the multiple glaring anomalies in it.
We show that, in addition to further definitive evidence of the misclassification and missing deaths, there is: a) gross underestimation of the population proportion unvaccinated, and b) mortality rates that are both nonsensical in various categories and completely incompatible with historical rates.
We believe that there are multiple violations of your code of practice (https://code.statisticsauthority.gov.uk/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Code-of-Practice-for-Statistics-REVISED.pdf). In particular, the dataset breaches the Quality and Value criteria numbered: Q 1.1, Q1.4 – 1.7, Q 2.4, Q 2.5, Q 3.2 – 3.5, V 1.1, V 3.2 – 3.3.
All of the anomalies in the dataset introduce bias in favour of analyses supporting vaccine ‘safety and efficacy’. The fact that these data are being used as continued justification for the efficacy and safety of the covid vaccines is therefore now a matter of national concern and scandal. We believe that an investigation into how and why the ONS dataset is so flawed and corrupted is required. In the meantime, we call for
1. the public withdrawal of the ONS dataset and
2. the retraction of any claims made by others that are based upon it.

I have made plots for the ONS data where a primary axis shows the all-cause ASMR among different vaccination status groups and a secondary axis shows the size of each vaccination status group (https://i.ibb.co/882PP6v/ons-all-cause-mortality-by-vaccination-status.png / R script: https://pastebin.com/raw/2DXZ9qKc). My plots make it clear that there was a spike in all-cause mortality among unvaccinated people after the first jab was rolled out, among single-jabbed people after the second jab was rolled out, and among double-jabbed people after the third jab was rolled out. For example the all-cause ASMR of the group "First dose, at least 21 days ago" increased from 1001.5 in March 2021 to 6445.0 in June 2021, which was an approximately 6-fold increase, and the all-cause ASMR of the group "Second dose, at least 6 months ago" increased from 547.8 in July 2021 to 4877.1 January 2022, which was an approximately 9-fold increase.
ReplyDeleteI also made another plot for the total number of all-cause deaths in each age group in Table 2 (https://i.ibb.co/nLhyBR0/1.png / R script: https://pastebin.com/raw/RejEZLdm). (I omitted rows where there were less than three deaths per month because the exact number of deaths was not specified.) For example the total number of all-cause deaths in the age group 18-39 decreased from 645 in January 2021 to 183 in May 2022, when at the same time the number of person-years of the age group only decreased from 952,427 to 944,792. And the total number of deaths in the age group 40-49 decreased from 1061 in January 2021 to 393 in May 2022, even though the number of person-years within the age group only decreased from 471,641 to 461,598. So were there really around three times as many people between the ages of 18 and 49 who died in January 2021 than who died in May 2022?
